Women's Art Retreat in the woods
October 4-6, 2019
Whispering Pines Conference Center
West Greenwich, Rhode Island
Why retreat?
- To clear your mind...
- To reconnect to the great outdoors...
- To rediscover yourself...
Retreats are also energizing - many people leave feeling like they're ready and motivated to take on new tasks and challenges.
Creativity take courage.
Now the question you need to ask yourself is - do you deserve it?
We think so....we hope you do too.
This retreat is created for a small group of people where everyone can get to know each other and enjoy individual attention with our staff and instructors. Space is very limited - we have room for only 16 guests on a first-booked-first-served basis.
We know it can be a leap of faith to attend a retreat without knowing anyone there - but here's your chance to be brave and take the first step and do something wonderful for yourself. Or you can invite a friend to join you and share a room. We have an uncanny knack for bringing just the right collection of people together. New friendships happen instantly. You'll meet sisters from other mothers and make connections that will last a lifetime.
So, what will this autumn weekend look like? Our days will be filled with making art together, dining together, lounging together, and just being with one another in this magical setting in the woods. We'll be surrounded by solitude and serenity, with trees changing into their fall glory of full color, sparkling lakes and pine laden paths.
Don’t have any art experience? Nothing to worry about - no experience is necessary AT ALL. We’re going to focus on the making of art - there's no competition here. Everyone travels at their own pace, guided by gentle instructors who encourage you to relax into the experience and see where it takes you. It's a lot of fun to just let go and enjoy paint, paper, fabric, glitter, and just getting beautifully messy with our hands.

Friday: Attendees arrive between 3PM-5PM. Everyone checks in at the main lodge and meets up in our conference room by 530PM. This will give you a bit of time to explore the Whispering Pines center and stroll around the campus. We’ll gather in the main dining lodge for cocktails and light bites, and then dine together over a lovely meal. After dinner we’re back at our conference space to enjoy a fun art activity. Evening hours are for you to relax, sit with a glass of wine by the fireplace, or just spend time in quiet solitude before a good night's rest.
Saturday: A delicious breakfast is followed by an optional morning stretch class. We’ll gather for our morning art session then break for a healthy lunch and downtime activities of your choosing (nap, hike, sitting by the lake, write in your journal, etc). We'll gather again for our afternoon art session and afterwards enjoy a nice dinner together. There will be optional group art activities after dinner, but evenings are also considered free time for connection, more art making, sitting by the fire with a glass of wine and a new friend, or whatever feels nourishing to you during this time.
Sunday: There will be another delicious breakfast and morning stretch class. We’ll have a morning art class and then break for lunch. After lunch, we’ll join together for a closing ceremony and celebration of the weekend. All too soon we'll have to say goodbye to new friends and take a last look around at the beautiful surroundings. We’ll send you off by 2PM with a suitcase full of art projects, a list of contacts for your new friends, and memories to last a lifetime.

Meals: Delicious homemade meals will include Friday dinner, Saturday breakfast/lunch/ dinner, and Sunday morning breakfast and lunch before we depart at 2PM. Vegetarian and vegan diets can be accommodated (we'll ask you for food restrictions when you register so that we can work with the chef before you arrive). Of course, we’ll have wine for our evening hang-out sessions and snacks and refreshments will be available 24/7.
Art classes: We've brought in artists from around New England who work in a multitude of mediums. Classes will include journal binding, soap making, fabric painting, embroidery, crown making and more. All instructor fees and class art supplies are included in your retreat fee - no need to shop for lots of items you'll have to pack or pick from a multitude of classes. This retreat is built so that every attendee participates in each class - that's why we've kept the group small (for individual attention). You'll have a chance to learn many different skills from the experts, and you'll go home with lots of fun projects, from art journals to soap to altered fabrics.
Extras: Everyone attending will be well taken care of with goodie bags, nourishing food, and lots of opportunities for downtime to restore your soul. You'll have plenty of time to stretch and surround yourself with nature, sleep in cozy beds, walks in the woods, sit by the lake and enjoy a campfire with s’mores, share deep and nurturing conversations with new friends, or time to just relax, rejuvenate and unwind.
